The main resource it takes, IMO, is my time and effort. A list "arrives", all by itself, in my email. A forum is something I have to go to on the web. My experience has shown me that those lists I used to subscribe to which did go over to being fora, I dropped out of. I would only remember every third day, and then less often.... Shimon
