CP directory changes only influence the future, it defines the initial configuration of virtual machine logging on, and what can be LINKed afterwards. By no means will a directory change affect the config of a logged on virtual machine. This seems a common misunderstanding. E.g. when an MDISK is removed from the CP directory, existing LINKs are not affected; new LINKs are impossible.
