1) Handle the few tape mounts tape not already in tape libraries
2) IPLs
3) Monitor the console for undocumented issues (they have to issued the
command WATCHMAN their_initials every hour to ensure that they are
watching)
4) "Phone home" - i.e. page for support when undocumented issues appear
5) Back when we had lots of batch jobs, changed priorities for batch
business-critical jobs

What do your operators do?

So, my RACF question and all the answers y'all gave made me think of
another...

What do your operators do within z/VM?

The reason I ask is because we haven't given our operations staff access
to any
of our z/VMs. What am I missing? Why do they need access? What should
they
be doing and aren't?

(Mind you, we are zLinux only.)

Leland
