It has been my experience that management will be interested in Linux on z only when it solves a problem they perceive themselves to have. That is, if they are not out of power, cooling, staff, or space, and are not being actively forced to reduce YTY expenses in those areas, then System z will hold no attraction. Another item that can force their attention is knowing that a direct competitor is using it. Lower IT costs can contribute to lower prices that lead to higher market share.
