I don't have a reference, but it is for z10 only, no z9s. The
restriction here is the z/VM-mode LPARs, they don't exist on the z9.

I'm reading the announcement letter for 5.4

Greater flexibility, with support for the new z/VM-mode logical
partitions, allowing all System z processor-types (CPs, IFLs, zIIPs,
zAAPs, and ICFs) to be defined in the same z/VM LPAR for use by various
guest operating systems.

What I can't find is if this also requires a z10, or if a z9 BC will
work.
