When you can IPL from an older resident, the you can update the broken MAINT CF1. - If you don't know the start cylinder of that broken MAINT CF1: ATTACH the broken resident to yourself as "vdev" Start ICKDSF, press neter twice enter CPVOL LIST UNIT(vdev) NVFY The you should see where the first PARM disk starts DETACH the broken resident from yourself - ATTACH the broken resident to SYSTEM issue DEFINE MDISK 1111 startcyl 200 530RES ACCESS 1111 Z and you've got access to the broken MAINT CF1
