Running SERVICE/PUT2PROD you should NOT have to make any PPF changes.
I think this is a bug in PUT2PROD. Maybe you should open a PMR?
 
There is no option on service or put2prod to use sfs.
You do have on service prodid%compname which could point to an SFS - but 
nothing on PUT2ROD.

I don't think I do, but I'll double check. I don't recall having to update the 
PPF file
the other times I have applied RSUs when the VM system was installed into the 
SFS. VM/SES
does provide separate identifiers for the various VM components, depending on 
whither or
not there are installed to minidisks, or SFS; e.g., "CMS" for minidisk, and 
"CMSSFS" for
SFS......
