Hello, Thanks for all your replies...fortunately, I found my passwords... (They were written on a memo pad from SHARE... under lock and key, of course!!)
Does anyone know if there will be a session at SHARE in Austin for recovering the "root" password? Thanks again for all your support, Alyce -----Original Message----- From: Austin, Alyce (CIV) Sent: Friday, January 23, 2009 1:41 PM To: 'The IBM z/VM Operating System' Cc: Austin, Alyce (CIV) Subject: RE: SLES10 IPL... OK...I thought the "recover the root password" procedure was too good to be true! I'll try one of the other methods on Monday. No. IPL from the rescue system (or the installation kernel/initrd). Activate your root file system, mount it, chroot to it, and change the password. Mark Post
