Thanks for all your replies...fortunately, I found my 
passwords... (They were written on a memo pad from SHARE...
under lock and key, of course!!)

Does anyone know if there will be a session at SHARE in Austin
for recovering the "root" password?

No.  IPL from the rescue system (or the installation kernel/initrd).
Activate your root file system, mount it, chroot to it, and change the
password.
