Log minidisks: NOMDC (it is write only, except during SFS startup) Control minidisks: NOMDC (well cashed by SFS itself) Storage groups 2-n: minidisks: MDC (unless you know that some stg group is mostly written to only) For the catalog minidisks (storage group 1), I asked years ago if MINIOPT RECORDMDC wouldn't be better than the default fulltrack MDC because I suppose that storage group 1 is not sequentially read, but with direct access. The answer: good idea, but we didn't study this. So I changed some of my customer's SFS servers, but never took the time to study differences. 2009/1/30 Gentry, Stephen <[email protected]>: > In doing some reading on this topic, I'm getting a little confused. > > In an SFS environment, what is the recommended MINIOPT settings for: > > The CONTROL disk, > > LOG disk > > CATALOG disk > > USER disk > > Thanks, > > Steve > > -- Kris Buelens, IBM Belgium, VM customer support
