There is a way around all this -- I am using it now. I do not use email t o post to this list, I sign on to a web page. My signature is two lines. It is plain text because the LISTSERV software that provides this web pages
works that way. The link I use is to read and write here is <http://listserv.uark.edu/archives/ibmvm.html>. There is one limitation -- my PC does not spellcheck my posts.
