After a z10, it would always be a z11 if IBM suddenly switched over to binary, right? Then a z100, etc...

Let's try to make sense of the marketroids branding system..

1st, let's look at the facts : In chronological order, and excluding the 'BC' class systems (z800, z890, z9-109 renamed z9 EC, the z9 BC, z10 renamed z10 EC and the z10 BC), we have :

U(0)=z900
U(1)=z990
U(2)=z9
U(3)=z10

So how does one calculate Un ? ("z" is a common factor so it is ignored).

Apparently, when n is Even or 0, U(n+1)=U(n)+U(n)/10 as 900+90 = 990 and 9+.9=9.9 which can be rounded to 10
And when n is Odd, U(n+1)=U(n)/110 as 990/110 = 9

So My belief if that the next generation and any subsequent generations should be "z0" since 10/110=1/11=0.0909... which can be rounded to 0

Of course, it could also be named a z2, z1000, z19, z1900 or .. whatever.. (just not z80.. please !)

(Oops.. It's not Friday yet ?)
