Martha,
We just converted all our VM systems to the CentricStor. We are using
IBM 3490E
emulation. The emulated 3490E is not restricted to the native capacity
of a 3490E.
The CentricStor is FICON attached. We just completed an upgrade on the
CentricStor,
and we don't consider it to be stable after the upgrade. The Fujitsu
technicians are
tinkering fiddling with it every day. Its stability and performance
appears to be
improving.

Subject: Fujitsu CentricStor

Has anyone heard of and/or use Fujitsu CentricStor virtual tape
appliance?
It claims to support Escon and Ficon connections, along with "all major
backup software". However, I've searched and googled and can find no
real
technical specs on it, just "marketing speak". We're evaluating
contracting
with a remote site for backup support and this is one of the devices
they
want to provide. I have my doubts since I can't find real technical
specs on
it. What type of device would it emulate for VM?
