SCSI tape support for CMS is one of those unfinished dreams, and DFSMS RMS is a CMS application. It'd be nice (and I wrote a requirement for it), but it didn't make the business case cut. Telling CP a SCSI tape drive is some kind of 3420 model -- 3420-16 or something -- would be my preferred approach. Your average SCSI tape drive is about as intelligent as a 3420 (ie dumb as a post), and there's all that code left over in CP from the 3420 support just waiting to be used again. Combine that with a simple autoloader device (ie, not the undocumented horror that is the 3494), and you'd have a pretty slick setup. Times like these I miss Rick at VSSI. He'd just go code it up...8-(
