Unless something has changed in z/OS 1.11, the DFSMSDSS Stand-Alone program will NOT restore CPVOL backup.
May not be important in your situation but should be noted.

You mean DFSMSdss. :-) It doesn't matter what is doing the copy, the
issues are the same.
