In addition to what Mike said, keep in mind that you can change the spool volume name without having to dump all of your spool and reload. As long as keep the same slot numbers, you can re-label the volume. Update your SYSTEM CONFIG with the new label, shutdown, re-label the volume, IPL. I am pretty sure this will work but you must test carefully.
