Hi Tom,

We've got Multiterm VSE and Multiterm VM here for user session management, and
Blue Zone for 3270/5250 emulation. Most mainframe user sessions connect via
TOR to VSE VTAM. Access to VM is via a menu selection on the Multiterm VSE
menu, via VCTCA to Multiterm VM. The Blue Zone deployment uses a served
desktop approach where - depending upon the user's requirements - a different
"desktop" is pushed out to them from the Blue Zone server. The various
desktops contain session icons to the servers the user is entitled to access;
i.e. mainframe, AS400's, etc. The Multiterm products have been in our shop for
many years. Blue Zone was brought in primarily to provide SSL-enabled
3270/5250 emulation but we toyed with the idea of replacing Multiterm with it.
Our user community likes Multiterm so well we hated to pull the plug on it. At
our sister company, Palm Coast Data, VTerm is used and it has some good
features. If you're still in the St. Louis area and feel like a road trip
you're more than welcome to visit us and take a good look at all these products
in action. Jerry, Gary, and I will even buy lunch. (I'll make Jerry and Gary
pick up the check but it sounded good. Hope they're not reading this.)

Subject: GCS Session managers

Currently we are running TUBES/GCS session manager.

Well, seems the company that took over Macro/4 is raising prices, as in double.

So, we are now looking at other VM/VTAM session managers.
Multiple TN3270 sessions really is going to be a hard sell. We have some users
that have 10-15 sessions active.
Also, we have some coax users....

So, what products are out there, that:

1. Can be used as VSE Consoles (i.e. dial vse 01f) and can support IPL'ing VSE
systems.
2. Can switch between about two dozen sessions.
3. Can keep all the sessions active, if the PC/Terminal is disconnected.
4. Would be nice to do cross domain to VSE VTAM for CICS sessions.
5. Support 3270 Model 2 thru Model 5 terminals.

A lot cheaper than $20K per year for Tubes/GCS.

Thanks
