Terry,

Prior to the closing of the ptf, I received an un-official patch
from IBM. I was able to download a REXX exec and TEXT540 file, along
with installation instructions. I still use this patch, until I can get
a maintenance window to install the ptf. The drawback to the patch is
that the "SET REORDER guest ON/OFF" must be re-entered whenever the
guest is re-cycled. It did not require an IPL of VM or a recycle of the
Linux guest to implement.

Hello Terry - we have that PTF loaded on z/VM 5.4. If you look at the
modules affected, I hope you would see that it is not a 'dynamic loaded
module' but an update to a number of CP parts. An IPL is needed to get
that new function (so yes, an outage will be required.)

I've played around with the command a little, but have not gotten very
far with it yet (time issue only)

Hi

I want to turn off FRAME REODERING for some guests as described in APAR
VM64774 (PTF UM33167 5.4). We had heard that the new (Set REORDER)
command was shipped as a dynamically loaded module that fooled around
with some fields in the VMDBK.

Has anyone used this and if so were you able to implement this without a
system outage?

Thank You,

Terry Martin
