Comment #4 on issue 455 by garygalang: Cannot activate ibus at all in Kubuntu (KDE4) http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=455
I'm using Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic. I read somewhere that Karmic will now be using iBus instead of scim. I also read that scim and iBus cannot co-exist. So, I uninstalled scim and its dependencies from my computer, made sure I have iBus and Anthy installed. Then click Launcher > Applications > Settings > qt 4 Settings. Once that opens, click on Interface tab, then choose iBus > on the Default Input Method drop down menu. Then click Launcher > Application > Settings > iBus Preferences. Once the iBus window opens, click the Input Method tab > Select input method > Japanese > Anthy, then click Add. It works for me. Unfortunately, I still don't know how to configure it so that it loads automatically when I restart Kubuntu. If somebody knows how, please let us know. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
