As you said, gnome-do works in fedora 13, but not in ubuntu 10.4.
In fact, it used to work in ubuntu, until some upgrade of ibus.
I compared the packages from your ppa and the older packages which work,
and I noticed that in the package from you ppa, there's an additional file
in /usr/lib/girepository-1.0/IBus-1.0.typelib.
I don't know if this is related, but I am sure that, there's no problem if
I package ibus 1.3.4 with an old debian directory.
