New issue 1187 by kohanyi.robert: Cannot input Japanese with ibus /
ibus-anthy in (console - gnome-terminal) Vim.
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1187
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
OS (Linux distributions, UNIX or ...): Ubuntu 10.10
Architecture (i386, x86_64): i686
IBus version: 1.3.7
Input method name and version: ibus-anthy-1.2.1-1
Python version: 2.6.6
dbus version: 1.4.0
dbus-python version: 1.3.7
gtk version (if bug is about gtk applications): 2.22.0
qt version (if bug is about qt applications): -
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start ibus with ibus-anthy, etc.
2. Open up a gnome-terminal.
3. Enter Vi / Vim.
3. Press Ctrl-Space for entering into Japanese input mode.
5. Enter random text.
6. Press enter.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output: to see the text entered in the editor window.
What I'm seeing instead: the text is gone forever. :)
Please provide any additional information below.
In the gnome terminal the ibus-anthy input method workds fine. I enter some
text in Japanese, press enter and the text is still there.
Note: in Vi / Vim I can "see" the text while I'm writing, it's just after I
press enter the text is gone. I've tried other input methods (kana, romaji,
etc), but always the same.
I've search the issues for Vi / Vim related issues but didn't find anything
related to this in a language understood by me. :) Any suggestions?
Btw. ibus kicks ass, it's just as good as microsoft's japanese ime but with
simple and sane configuration capabilities. Thank you for this piece of gem!
