Hi. I'm a native Mainland Chinese. I learned Simplified Chinese in school and I'm learning Traditional Chinese. I'd say which character to pick (since it is common that multiple Traditional characters corresponding to one Simplified character) or subtle HK-TW-JP difference is really challenging for me. I'd honestly admit that your issue may not be resolved in near future. Since the IBus team do not have Traditional Chinese experts currently, please correct me.
It seems like you want the Chinese. Why don't you learn Zhuyin, Cangjie or Quick? Then you can have access to input methods developed by TW people. I don't know any pinyin based input method is known to very good at Traditional Chinese, Even I include input methods found in other systems and environments. I welcome you to point out one so we can do some study. I hope IBus, as the default IM for some notable Linux distros, can do better in Traditional Chinese as much as you.
