installing ibus-dbg pulled-in a couple other ibus packages that weren't
installed by defualt. Combined with the updates from utopic beta up-to 20th
October the problem disappeared. I "think" it was due to the extra packages
installed by ibus-dbg which fixed it as I couldn't see any ibus related
packages in the update list, but can't be sure this is the case. Removing
the ibus-dbg package does not recreate the issue so it seems to be a
permanent fix.
