I fear this may take longer than expected. After having inspected the code,
I have found that ibus_engine_simple_process_key_event() (see
https://ibus.googlecode.com/svn/docs/ibus-1.4/IBusEngine.html#IBusEngine-process-key-event
for related docs) is never executed, apparently. But for some reason,
compose keys and regular typing still work fine.
As this makes no sense, I am not sure how to continue.
