Steve, Rudders get spongy inside and water penetrates with exposure over a long period of time. Has it been out of the winter or was it just hauled out? I had witnessed on a friend's boat how they drilled down two holes at the bottom of the rudder and water was gushing out. Repair is not difficult, just a few hours is enough for a good sealing job (and then additional time for paint of course). Important to make sure that all the water is out though. However, if it has stopped it may not be worth the expense. Just be prepared that once water is in, it may repeat again over time. Onat
