A plywood base is bendy and feels insecure. We added a cross support between
the two settees and two supports would have been even better. Our support was 3
“x1” with the bracket on the end set so the plywood would be at the same height
as the settee. (with just the one cross support we finished up using a cooler
and some padding under the bed to help with supporting the middle)

A small 1 ½” x 1 ½” x 8” long piece of wood attached to the bulkhead below
the table at the right height supports one end of the plywood.

Cut the plywood base so it is the same size as the port settee cushion. Then
notch it so the plywood so it will fit against the bulkhead support.

By using the Port settee cushion rather than the quarter berth cushion it makes
setting up the bed much easier. The plywood base will store under the starboard
cushion or under the quarter berth cushion.

I’m sure it would be possible to fabricate a solution without the brackets but
I already had them.

Go into the photo site, someone has awesome shots of his bed which is the same
as you are describing.
