The "smile" repair is real easy, you just sand and widen the crack a litttle, fill it and the lay some glass over it. It could be mostly done in a day. You just have to give the epoxy enough time to cure and paint. My only concern is if the joint isn't sealed up well and the keel bolts leak it could let water get into the wood keel stub causing rot, that may already be the case. Replacing the keel stub with filler and glass would be a little more work but defininitly something to do yourself and not pay a yard to do. The problem is finding somewhere that will let you work on the boat. The yard rate here is $60/hr. I'm planning some overnite offshore sailing and its just peace of mind.
