Sojourn t-boned a six inch submerged limb during last year's Queen's Cup. The keel looked ok when she was hauled last fall, but after the Michigan winter the smile had reappeared with dampness showing at the smile.
They say don't pick at something unless you want to see what is beneath it - I did and found loose fairing on half of the trunk/keel joint; which included a 3 inch high by 6 inch wrap around piece of fairing on the forward part of the full keel. Under this piece the lead was quite wet. Checked the keel bolts - ok, less than 1/4 in of water in the bilge. Cleaned out the smile with a Drimel(sp?) tool, let it dry for a week, faired the smile including the 3 X 6 piece with West's G/Flex epoxy and 406 filler. I'll grind/sand and put a final fairing to it before the double coating with VC17. Smile on, Art Haan Sojourn C27TR #5476 Pentwater, MI
