I had a really nice set made at my local yard which cost me about $200. One
major tip if you are going to make your own is to “breadboard” them which
apparently means to glue up pieces on the end with the grain running
perpendicular to the grain of the center section (see attached picture). This
apparently stabilizes them so that they don’t warp or swell in such a way as to
make them difficult to use.

I don’t think that it would be very hard to make a set if you have a reasonable
level of skill in the wood shop and a reasonable set of tools. It is basically
a cutting board with a funny angle cut on the ends.

Best,
John

I am getting many responses that say "cut yoru own", have you tried epoxying
the boards back together? If I get any other leads, I will let you know.

I am interested in this as well. I was going to go to my local marine wood
store and have him re-do my middle board. Some oaf (me) dropped it from the
deck into the companionway to the cabin floor below and split the side of the
wood.

I am looking for hatch boards for an older Catalina 27. The ones I have are in
poor condition. Anyone out there have a source?
