Welcome.

Replace the bobstay. If you do not know the last time it was replaced, then
put it at the top of your list. Check it now. If there is the slightest sign
of rust, then run - don't walk to your rigger for a replacement. Oh, your jib
halyard tied to the bow cleat will hold the mast up.

I am talking from experience. You don't want it to fail while under sail.

Subject: [IC27A] New to the IC27A list, hullo!

Hi everyone!

I just joined this list and wanted to say hello. I've got a 1988 TR (hull #
escapes me at the moment) named Persephone, currently living at Montrose Harbor
of Chicago.

Projects this year (so far!) have included installing a new set of Raymarine
ST60+ instruments to replace the long-dead Navico ones; fixing a faulty ground
wire that makes our diesel fuel gauge bounce all over tarnation; trying out new
deck paint for the non-skid surfaces; rebedding selected team trim; and
probably replacing the ancient Jabsco toilet. Oh, and wiring up our autopilot
to SeaTalk and hopefully our handheld GPS too!

Future projects I'd like to accomplish next year: insulating the icebox;
replacing a bunch of running rigging, especially our closed loop furling line
(have to teach myself how to do that...) and rebedding a lot of deck hardware.

I look forward to reading about and contributing to our shared C27 experience.
May the winds treat you well!

David
