I just got back from the boat and missed the plain white vinegar suggestion. I
did a pressure flush using the hose from the dock connected to a tee valve,
after that I did the muriatic flush, waited 15 minutes while it did whatever
it's supposed to do and then, using the same bucket filled with water, flushed
it again. Everything seems clear but there still doesn't appear to be enough
water to cool the engine when I close the tee and open the sea cock to let it
run normally.
I had the bucket in the cockpit, drawing water from a higher point than the
engine which may have helped increase the flow. The pump is sucking and getting
water, I just don't know how else to increase the flow?
Should I consider changing the pump (oberdorfer) or getting a new fresh water
set-up or leave it alone and tolerate it?
By the way, there is plenty of water flowing in when I open the sea cock...
