I purchased a Yamaha 9.9 hp. four stroke in 1999. It drove my overweight boat at hull speed for ten years without a hick-up. It lived in salt water and though I bagged it over the winter, it was dependable whenever called upon to operate. Last year I retired it as I am going on another long trip and wanted a new motor. I choose to stay with Yamaha and purchased another Yamaha 9.9 hp four stroke. The motor has been completely redesigned from the motor I had. It has a flush system and a trim/tilt system as well as many other improvements. I know nothing about the Sailmaster, but Yamaha has a vast network of authorized service centers and is an internationally respected brand. If you want to see my motor installation, visit my web site and watch the video of my motor and motor mount in action. The site is ahsovereignty.com. With this set-up I sincerely doubt that I will ever have to replace my auxiliary. Have a great day, I remain, David Hoyt Sovereignty Catalina 27 #65 In a message dated 1/28/2010 10:56:46 A.M. Is anyone running a Sailmaster 8 or 9.9hp outboard? If so, how do you like it? Does it have the the battery charging system? I'm considering the purchase of one or possibly a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust, but they do seem to be a bit more expensive. Appreciate your thoughts/comments.
