I carry an old metal Coleman electric cooler.  Load it early and turn the temp
to freezing while on shore power before departing the dock. It stays cold for
some time. I can also plug it into an inverter while the engine is running.
I'd never run it just off batteries, I think it would drain them in
minutes. But I supplement with a regular ice chest, too.  It sure is nice to
step on the boat after a month or a few weeks away and have a cold one waiting
for you.  It sits on the quarter birth behind the dinette.  It's heavy enough
that it never moves at all but I will rig some sort of strap to be sure.  If it
looks like it will be really rough, it's easy enough to pick up and put on the
cabin sole.

Has anyone added a AC/DC refrigerator to their vessel either portable or
permanent? I would like to know the details of what you added and where you
added it.
