I have a 71 dinette model and added a refrigerator forward of the stove in
1984. I glued Armaflex 1/2" insulation all around the refrigerator.
Additionally I plugged the refrigerator into the "computer" socket of a
computer power strip (such a strip turns on accessories such as a monitor,
printer, speakers, etc., when the computer is turned on). I built-in the
refrigerator and in the forward wall close to the cabin liner, I added a 110
Volt
computer fan (5" diameter) and plugged it into the accessory plug of the
power strip. When my refrigerator senses 110 Volt power and turns on using
that energy the fan begins drawing air from under the stove area and
exhausting it out the forward wall thus cooling the area behind the
refrigerator.
Most marine refrigerators fail due to overheated diodes. Mine has worked
flawlessly for 25+ years.

I cut openings in the storage area under the former birth to access that
area from the cabin sole. I covered the openings with a single teak board
with doors hinged on the bottom..

As an aside, I converted my former ice box to a holding plate
refrigerator/freezer.

Has anyone added a AC/DC refrigerator to their vessel either portable or
permanent? I would like to know the details of what you added and where you
added it.
