Rob,

 

I don't know the year of your boat or how it is plumbed.  My WAG would be
that the pumping kit on the head has failed.  You probably should rebuild
the head after closing off the sea water intake.  My guess is what you are
seeing is sea, lake, or river water, wherever you sail, in the head.

 

When it comes to boats (holes in the water) I'm very paranoid.  I keep all
through hulls shut off unless they are needed, e.g., water intake for the
engine.

hi all,

the bowl of our onboard head is, oddly, full of clean water and when i try
to flush or pump it dry it goes nowhere. the tank/overboard valve has not
been switched since the last time i successfully used it so i'm a bit
perplexed as to why this standing water is sitting in hy head. anyone have
an idea? it has been raining a lot here lately but i can't figure how rain
water would have made it directly into the bowl. thanks
