Simple Green gets a lot of it off. Although, it's a bit of a trick hanging on
the ladder and wiping.

John,

I'm with you...I just hate that black soot. I have uses some of the soft scrub
on a long handle deck brush to keep it looking clean but it may not be the best
for the gel coat. Let me know if it works.

Has anyone tried applying WoodyWax on the transom to prevent the black soot
build up?

......Create a non-stick wax finish for your boat After you apply this wax with
a soft deck brush, dirt, soot, bird droppings and even fish blood rinse off
easily. One application lasts up to two months and protects against corrosion,
oxidation,...

I'm going to try this because I hate the black soot. I know I had a bottle of
this stuff, I'm just hoping I didn't sell it with the last boat.
