I had a Johnson 6 that came with my first Catalina. Was very happy with it for several months. My first trip to Catalina we almost got blown ashore from the anchorage. Purchased a new Evinrude 9.9 first day back. I would never go back to a 6 on a Catalina 27. When we needed the power, it just wasn't there. Charlene Dryer

I am considering buying a nissan/tohatsu 6.0 with alternator, anyone have experience with a 6 on a cat 27? Finally My motors have all been 20 inch shafts, anyone use a 25 inch on the transom mount? which is better?, thanks...
