Morning Ron,
I believe you can use any heavy weight monofilament fishing line.
If you go to a sporting goods store that has a good fishing dept. you
can often buy it off their big spool that they load their customer's
reels with. If you can bring in a piece of your line, they can
probably match it. Or, just buy a small spool of it for future use.
Read the manual on your Dutchman system to make sure you are using it
correctly. We installed a swivel between our topping lift and the
Dutchman's adjusting line to help keep some of the twist out of the
line when we adjust it. When lowered, we run the front line forward
and back line to the end of the boom to facilitate putting our sail
cover on.

I have such a system on Sovereignty and if I needed a piece of
monofilament I would check with UK Sails, or maybe a commercial
fishing supplier.

Does anyone know of a source (preferably in Canada) for the nylon
cord used in a Dutchman mainsail flaking system? My newly acquired
C-270 has one installed, and I managed to break it first time out.
I've read the manual and I think I have figured out how it's
supposed to work, and even how I broke it, but I can't find the
right size cord for it.
