The first thing I would do is check to see about the castings for the spreaders. If they are the old cast Aluminum I would change those with new ones (Catalina Direct).
I would skip to the question on Lazy Jacks. Lazy Jacks - YES, I have added those to my boat and they make a great improvement in ease of sail handling from the cockpit. Make sure you do dry lube on the slot to help the sail in both going up and coming down. I also had to add a small line to help assist the sail lowering from the cockpit. Mine would typically stop with the head above the spreaders, the small line helps me draw the sail down to the boom and sit in the lazy jacks. Adding spinnaker crain and hardware now? - I have the crane but have not added it as yet (mast is still up), but if you want to add a spinnaker (either sym or asym) this would be a good addition. Mainsheet configuration - traveler is on cabin - I have the hardware and have just not gotten this done. My reasoning is my wife wants/demands a Bimini and with the end of boom traveler it makes the use of a Bimini almost useless. Moving the traveler to cabin top would allow me to move the Bimini to a more useful placement. Other suggestions: Check/change lighting at the top (bulbs AND wiring). Also, check the VHF cable. Also, this might be a good time to add a deck light (usually just above the spreaders).
