I'm not familiar with your individual cabin configuration - My (1972 #448 tall 
rig) had a dinette layout with the galley aft - My battery bank was inside the 
storage space under the port side settee directly under the alcohol stove -  
this was VERY HANDY to check specific gravity of batteries or if need be, 
to attach a battery charger while plugged into shore power...
 
This is a F.W.I.W. idea if interested - I was amazed they buried your batteries 
so far aft and so far our of convenient reach...

I'm happy to keep my batteries where they are, low. Better from a boat 
stability standpoint (small yes, but real).

I love my M-18 inboard but it sure puts a lot of weight in the stern. 
and the fuel tank. and the batteries... wish more of this was forward 
somehow. I strive to keep weight out of the ends of the boat.
