thanks for all the compliments. the lumber came from a place in berkeley called 
Urban Ore. the planks are fitted together with spline butt joints, as i don't 
have a thickness planer getting the surfaces level is crucial. the time spent 
is around 50 hours start to finish which includes laminating luan ply to the 
backside due to rabbets from the original cabinet frames from which the teak 
came. the contrasting woods are Paduk (orange) and Maple. the piece is to the 
original spec and should just plug and play. the hardest part was the 
lamination process as i don't have a large flat table on which to perform this 
step. i was left to weighing down the slabs with 5 gallon buckets of water on 
the driveway. they came out a little warped but i'm hoping that settles over 
time. the compromises that result from a small garage shop are inevitable but 
one can dream and learn in the process.- rob
