David,
I had the same problem on my boat.  I replaced the Sherwood pump with an 
Oberdorpher  202M-15 from Depco Pump Co for less than half the price from 
Torrenson.  Taking the old pump off and installing the new one took less than 
an hour and was really no problem at all.  Good luck
