Looks like my forestay needs to be replaced. I have a Harken Unit 0 furler, and it's probably as old (87')as the boat. I'd like to know if anybody out there has done this job themselves and what is involved? Have been told that I'll need to disassemble the furler in the reverse order to which it was installed. Was wondering if it's possible to pull the old wire out and reinstall the new wire without taking the foils apart? The foils are attached to the connectors with screws. The mast is down. Do I need to take it completely apart? I will be using a mechanical fitting at the bottom.
