That's right Joe, the Brit's community was very helpful indeed, and even dug up
the photo and reposted it to make things clear for me! It's a sea going nation,
you can tell from their experience.
Their best advice however was to avoid falling dry in the first place and go
for a visitor's mooring. If no other option, drying out preferably against a
fixed construction, like a harbour wall.
I'm planning a 10 day trip in the English Channel (the French call it equally
theirs) an North Sea, don't know yet wether I'll end up in France, UK or the
Netherlands (they're all within a 50 mile distance, nothing like the distances
you guys seem to be talking about), that will depend on the weather and
circumstances. I'll definitely post a picture, and who knows, one of a J27
proudly taking the 'glorious mud', as the Brits insist on naming their
uncovered national waters ...
Joe, let me thank you and all the others again for the helpful advice I find on
your user community.

Jan I see the photo I was able to find has surfaced again on the
Jag 27 group.  I had a feeling you would find the info you needed.  Keep us
posted on your success and by all means show us some photos of your boat dried
out!

OK, I found the picture… That is the
economy at the extreme. Just a single piece of wood supporting the bow.
Sorry, I don’t have the author, but it was from the Jaguar Group on Yahoo.

   Should caution you… DO NOT
(under any circumstances) look at the prices of Jaguar 27 (same as Catalina
  27) that are for sale.

I've tried to find jag user groups on earlier occasions, but never
got any reply, as if the group was'nt very active any more.

    I have never had the
pleasure, but a couple suggestions. First there is a Jaguar Yahoo group, I
am betting one of the Britts will know.  I saw a picture of a Jag 27
that had done just that. It was leaning against a quay (wall) and the
skipper had carefully placed a post under  the bow and one under the
stern to keep her upright in addition to the much needed fenders along the
    side.

I'm planning a visit of the UK east coast, which will involve drying out
    in tidal harbours.

Anyone familiar with falling dry on a tide? How should I prepare boat and
    its human content?
