I'm interested in exchanging information on the Petter Mini-6 diesel engine.
My 1978 Catalina 27 has this engine, that was rebuilt about six years ag0, for the previous owner. The rebuilder and expert on the engine has move. I've looked for another professional to check the engine, but haven't found one yet - so, I thought I'd try finding other Petter Mini-6 engine owners. Perhaps, we can share and learn about this engine, just like we share and learn about maintaining our Catalina 27s. My main concern this spring is two-fold: 1. Two of the engine moounts look bad, and there appears to be some issue about the proper replacement units. 2. The enigne sounds mostly okay, except every ten seconds or so, there is a louder sound - like a ping-click. I plan on making a sound recording and could put it on the internet for advice. The manual has several suggestions, but I'm thinking that perhaps another C27 w/Petter owner has come across the sound before and could suggest the specific issue. Bob Owner of C27 # 3587.
