Psst!

I wouldn't tell anyone they were poorly constructed but the 22, 25, & 27
shared many of the same growing pains. Once Catalina identified something as
a concern it was changed across at least these three models.

I've know a C25 owner who let leaks go so long portions of deck core rotted
and a C22 where the cockpit floor rotted. That's why you pay for a survey or
offer to split the cost of a survey before you buy a boat. There's no
telling what a previous owner may or may not have done for up keep from just
looking.

Generally it helps if you buy from a member of the owner's association but
it's no guarantee.

I'm looking to buy soon and assumed th 27 was the better option. I was on
another 27 owners group and was surprised to see some of them prefer the 25.
It was stated the the v berth in the 25 had more room and the 25 had better
storage compartments and the bulkheads (starboard) on the 27 were poorly
constructed and water leaks rotted out the bulkheads. Granted these were on
boat built in '75-'82. For budget reasons I'd be buying an older model. I'm
hoping some one can shed some light on these issues. Thanks.
