Hi Trish,

Black horses are always so challenging to see in photos. Riding with a
loose rein is nice but it doesn't necessarily help the horse learn a
different way of carrying himself and releasing the base of the neck. I
think that is kind of misunderstood. A horse habitual posture, just like
ours, is just that a habit. Since he was probably ridden with a fairly
tight rein before you, the holding pattern in the base of the neck will
likely be there and could be a cause of the sensitivity to be touched,
especially if he is okay about being touched in other places. Is that true?
I am not sure where you live but if you are close to where Peggy Cummings
will be sometime www.connectedriding.com at least go to audit as you would
learn so much that could be helpful.
>The "Just Because" pics include a pic of my new gelding, Kopar...he is a
>son of Seifur and grandson of Lettir.
He looks a lot like Seifur - thanks for letting me know. Does he have a
nice canter? Lettir has been known for often passing on a wonderfully
smooth canter.
