This is a hard one! Cheryl had agreed to have the photo posted on the gaitedhorse list, and there were diverse responses, as I recall pace, rack, canter. My feeling leans towards canter / gallop as the hind legs would be in slightly different positions (more spread apart) for rack (tolt), with the caveat that I think it's more of a "I gotta hurry and get into position to bite this guy's butt" move. Maybe a transitional phase between one gait and another.
