>>>> That's what a person says when they don't know how to really handle
horses, they blame it on the horse, so convenient, then take it one step
further and say let's eat them.

When the people make the "jokes" (and geez, I hope they are jokes) about
horses should be eaten, I think they really are just telling us that they
don't have any constructive suggestions to make on the topic of the moment.
They are simply following the crowd, and for some unknown reason, some of
the "cool kids" of this little social circle think that's a cool thing to
say. It reminds me of certain things adolescents (even toddlers) do or say
to get attention, to make a "statement." It's the "Mean Girls" mentality,
or in some cases, a certain macho swaggering bravado coming through. For
some crazy reason, the shock value of saying that a horse should be eaten
(in the USA) reminds me of the current Paris/Britney/Lindsey
lack-of-underwear fad du jour. Saying that a horse should be eaten is just
juvenile, stupid and mean, and even kind of sleazy - and only done to shock
people and get attention.

I'm not on this list to impress people. I'm not on this list to shock
people. I don't have any desire to be a "cool kid." I haven't been an
adolescent in many, many years, and I'm even past the days of being the mom
of an adolescent. I hope we can talk more about the "grown-up"
responsibilities of horsemanship for a while now with real specific issues
and concerns in the forefront. I'm tired of the shock-value catch phrases.
