If you breed a pacey horse to a pacey horse you generally get an even
pacier horse. Same for trotty horses. You have to breed good gaits to
good gaits, good conformation to good conformation or you don't get
good gaits/conformation.

Our ex-stallion was bred I believe 7 times (that I know of) all have
his pacey gaits, his poor backend, his size, and his color. Even
though they were out of a variety of mares he certainly stamped his
get.
