as a person who grew up on a farm where we raised certain animals specifically for food--- I see some differences between cows and horses, dogs and chickens. I have said this before and some people posted that i was wrong, but hey, we had cows. Cows are not like horses. Cows are not intelligent and emotional. its like they are "all the lites are on but nobody's home". They feel pain, yes, and they shouldnt suffer, but they are not pets. neither are chickens. Dogs and horses are. They are highly emotional and intelligent. So I think they in particular require special humane treatment. A chicken in a small cage its entire life, which is usually only 3 months with the specially engineered new food bred poultry, is not inhumane to me. just the way I feel. hey, we all gotta eat. But the person from Iceland who posted said something interesting... that they rarely eat horse meat, that it mostly all goes to places like japan. What is UP with Japan!?!? They eat whales, dolphins and horses. They make pretty combs out of endangered tortoises. my uncle ed always said a person who would kill a dolphin would kill a human being. I believe that!
